Attic Conversion, Barrhead

Delighted to have received Building Warrant for this attic bedroom conversion in Barrhead. The project involves thermal upgrade of the existing attic and insertion of acoustic separation between the (new) attic bedroom and ground floor accommodation. A new bespoke timber staircase was designed to fit into a restricted hallway, whilst maintaining access to existing ground floor rooms. New Velux windows inserted in the roof provide natural light & ventilation to the bedroom and study niche.

After submission of additional information, we received this Building Warrant from East Renfrewshire Council in under 24 hours. Now that's what we call fast.....well done East Ren!

Kitchen and Dining space, Newton Mearns

Sketch design for internal alterations to a detached house in Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire. The clients wished to make more of their south facing aspect, with better access to the garden. Due to the dramatic change in level through the site, our approach was to replace the existing external steps with a large elevated terrace and alter the existing bay windows at the rear to create one large glazed bay, behind which the new kitchen and open plan dining area are located. The old 'chilly' porch is replaced with an insulated timber frame box containing a new en-suite shower room serving a master bedroom in the location of the old kitchen.
