BUNGALOW
EXTENSION, MONIAIVE

The 15 year old bungalow which exists on this site lacked character and visual connection with the surrounding landscape. The client's brief was to replace the existing octagonal conservatory with a new extension, introduce a feeling of spaciousness and improve natural light.  A new extension to the south-west corner provides a large & generous living area with vaulted rafter ceilings and a projecting glazed bay capturing views to the hills beyond.

The extension is extruded along the front elevation to create a sheltered terrace, an enclosed entrance lobby and accessible ramp. Internally, the entrance hall area has been completely reconfigured to provide a wider hallway with seating area and new roof-lights help to bring natural light deep into the plan.  Internal walls have been removed and the chimney relocated to create a large kitchen and dining room.  To the rear, a second extension provides a larger utility space, covered porch and log store.
