COLT HOUSE EXTENSION, GATEHOUSE

SERVICE PROVIDED

Partial Service to Building Warrant

Completed in 2018

Situated on an elevated site within the leafy Boreland Wood estate on the edge of Gatehouse of Fleet, this project involved the extension of an existing ‘Colt’ style timber framed bungalow, which sits in a substantial site of 0.6 acres surrounded by mature trees and tall coniferous hedging.

Extensions to the north and west elevations of the bungalow provide an extended kitchen and additional living space.  The form and scale of the extensions are respectful of the existing bungalow, with analogous materials including a pitched cedar shingle roof and horizontal cedar shiplap cladding.  Openings within the new kitchen extension to the west are purposefully generous to allow the maximum amount of light into this north facing room. To the north, a larger extension provides a second living space with views to the Water of Fleet beyond and an en-suite bathroom serving an existing bedroom.  A new front door and lobby is created connecting the existing house to the new extension.
